Post: Community Support Assistant
Scale: Grade 3 (£7.66 – £8.20 per hour)

Main job purpose
To support teaching and support staffs wellbeing by organising daily refreshments within the
morning break period.
To ensure the safety, general welfare and conduct of students during the break period is
To provide efficient support, to departments assisting with the smooth running of the school;
including undertaking basic cleaning in around dining areas and other general duties.

Main responsibilities and duties
1. To promote and organise daily refreshments for staff at midmorning break.
2. To supervise students in designated areas of the school, to ensure their safety, welfare
and general conduct through appropriate application of the school’s policies and
3. To arrange, manage and supervise students’ activities to be conducted during breaks.
4. To assist in the clearance of any spillage, clearing or washing up within a variety of areas
in the school as appropriate.
5. To assist in the setting up and removal of furniture or equipment where necessary.
6. To take any immediate action to attend to sickness or accidents by carrying out minor
first aid and summoning relevant assistance.
7. To complete any documentation required by the school in relation to any pastoral matters
or incidents that have occurred and to participate in review meetings, as required.
8. To report any unauthorised visitors on school premises.
9. Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in accordance with
the school’s safeguarding and child protection policy.

Barton Hill Boarding House – Shaftesbury School

We are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join our cover team at Shaftesbury
School. The post involves managing students in class, making sure discipline is
upheld, and ensuring that students carry out tasks in order to minimise the effect of
the teacher’s absence upon the student’s learning.
Candidates should have good general knowledge, exceptional interpersonal skills,
be assertive and the ability to engage students in learning. Full training and support
will be provided.
